We are happy to announce the arrival of a little female zebra born last January 19 at Zoo de Granby!

Here are some interesting facts:

  • This is the 17th zebra to be born at the zoo since 1968.
  • A zebra’s gestation period lasts between 11 and 12 months.
  • Over the years, Zoo de Granby has welcomed 28 zebras to its collection.
  • The present group is composed of 7 zebras (1 male and 6 females).
  • Black with white stripes or white with black stripes? Zebras have dark skin; therefore, we can assume they are black with white stripes!
Visitors will be able to meet our new baby with its mom as they head outdoors next spring when the weather warms up and the ice has melted everywhere. The rest of the herd can be seen during the Zoo in Winter event.
