Zoo de Granby and its Employees Ratify a Tentative Agreement, Ending the Labour Dispute

Press release

Granby, February 26, 2025 – Zoo de Granby is pleased to announce that the tentative agreement reached on February 20 has been ratified at a union meeting held February 26, by a vote of 99% in favour. This agreement effectively ends the labour dispute that had been ongoing for over six months.

"We are delighted to turn the page and are now looking to the future with optimism," said Paul Gosselin, President and CEO of Zoo de Granby. "We are confident that this mutual agreement meets the needs of our employees while ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organization."

The new, five-year collective agreement includes salary increases totaling 20.5%, with an initial increase of 6% in the first year. The agreement will make the Zoo a more attractive employer and contribute to employee retention, thanks to more flexible schedules and other measures designed to support work-life balance. The agreement also facilitates staff mobility within the organization. In this way, the Zoo aims to provide an optimal working environment while still meeting the present and future needs of the organization.

The return to work will take place over the coming weeks, following a protocol jointly established by management and the union. Teams will be gradually reintegrated, ensuring a smooth transition towards full resumption of the Zoo's regular activities, for the benefit of visitors, the animals in our care and the wider community.

Zoo de Granby would like to thank all parties involved in the negotiation process for their commitment and collaboration. The organization is now firmly focused on the future, ready to continue its mission of education and conservation while offering a complete and enriching experience to all visitors. The Zoo will be open during the school holidays, March 1 to 9 inclusive, and is already preparing for the summer season, beginning May 17.
