Unfortunately, in case of a labor dispute, we would be unable to offer our usual presentations as well as the animal feeding times (rest assured, the animals are not lacking food!).

General Information about the labor dispute

Yes, the Zoo remains open according to its usual schedule. Only a few services would not be available, such as the scheduled presentations offered by our naturalist-interpreters and animal care technicians.

The collective agreement of the unionized employees of the Zoo de Granby expired on December 31, 2023. The union and the management of the Zoo de Granby are currently negotiating a new collective agreement. 

No. Only the unionized employees of the animal care, maintenance and construction, conservation and research, education, accounting, human resources, finance, and IT departments are on strike: they represent less than 15% of our employees during the summer season.

No, although unionized employees have the right to demonstrate and picket around the physical perimeter of the Zoo, access to the site for visitors will remain open.

Some secondary activities, such as camel rides or the stingray pool, would not be available during the labor dipsute. Flags and stickers have also been installed around the Zoo de Granby site as a pressure tactic by the union.

Animal Park

Yes, the animal park remains open according to its usual schedule. Only a few services will not be available, such as presentations by our naturalist-interpreters and animal care technicians.

Animal welfare remains the priority of the Zoo de Granby. All essential care continues to be provided to the animals and is supervised by animal care specialists.

Yes, all the animals will be visible. However, some activities will not be available, such as:

  • Indoor access to the lorikeet aviary
  • The stingray pool
  • Camel rides

Animal care supervisors oversee all the care provided to the animals and are supported by all the Zoo de Granby's management team. Tasks have been distributed among the management team to ensure all essential care for all the animals: the welfare of our animals remains the priority.

Yes, our two veterinarians remain on duty and continue to provide all necessary medical care for all our residents.
